Pastor Glover has been preaching the Gospel of Christ since he was fourteen years of age. He grew up in a Christian home and made his commitment to Christ at the tender age of six. Pastor jokingly says the worse thing God had to forgive him of was shooting his mother with a BB gun. Pastor grew up in the Southern Baptist church, but at the age of 17 he received the Holy Spirit Baptism and joined the Assemblies of God. He married his wife, Phyllis, in 1975. In his words, she is the greatest gift in his life outside of Jesus Christ. They have two wonderful children married to great Christian spouses and best of all, four beautiful grandchildren. Pastor has his B.A. in pastoral ministry and earned masters degrees in Bible and psychological counseling.
Pastor believes that a New Testament church must be aggressive in soul winning, therefore every ministry of the church must have as its ultimate result the salvation of the lost. His preaching style is thoroughly Pentecostal and Bible based. He uses humor and personal life experiences to illustrate the expository messages he shares. His desire is that the believer would be empowered to take biblical principles and apply them in everyday life. Pastor Glover has had successful pastorates in Arkansas and Texas for the last 34 years. He and his wife came to McAllen in April 2007 with a vision to build a powerful New Testament church in the heart of the Rio Grande Valley. Shawn and Leann were both brought up in the youth ministry of our church. After a few years of studying at Real Life Institute Shawn came back to the Valley to continue in God's calling for him. Leann was born and raised here in the Rio Grande Valley and has attended our church her entire life. Shawn took over the student ministry in June of 2010. Shawn and Leann were married on October 9th 2010. Together they are excited to fulfill God's calling in this ministry.
Nancy Cadena is the pastor for Supernatural Kid's Church. Pastor Nancy is an ordained minister with the Assemblies of God.
Phyllis Gale Carpenter Glover accepted Christ as her Savior at the age of five in VBS, and she received the Holy Spirit Baptism at the age of eight in church camp. These fundamental spiritual experiences have shaped her life and ministry. In 1975, she married the love of her life, Mike Glover. They began a journey that has continued for 36 years. They have been blessed with two beautiful children and two wonderful in-laws. They have four awesome grandchildren who Phyllis gets to be "Mellie" to.
Phyllis is an accomplished pianist and music teacher who has directed church choirs and musical productions in all the churches that they have pastored. Phyllis is an LPN having worked for doctors, hospitals, and nursing homes. She is an excellent teacher having ministered for many years in small groups and conferences. Phyllis believes that the churches greatest days are in the future and looks forward to embracing what God will do!
Ruben, born in Fort Wayne, In Nov. 16, 1948 and Donna born in Burlingame, CA, Feb.18, 1961 met and married in Mission,TX July 24, 1984. Both are graduates of Southwestern Assemblies of God University and of Latin American Bible Institute and Pan American University respectively.Donna has been a second grade teacher since 1991 and Ruben has pastored in: Fort Wayne, IN, Dallas, TX, pioneered a work in Mission, TX, pastored in Uvalde, TX, and Pharr, TX. He has held other positions as: District Sunday School Director, Sectional Youth Rep, Youth Pastor, and Radio Minister. They have three children: Angela 23, Ruben Jr. 22 and Stephanie 17 and make their home in Mission, Texas.
